How to list products on Flipkart in bulk

Flipkart’s bulk upload turns one spreadsheet into many listings, but only when the template matches the category and every row is consistent. This walkthrough covers the template, the variant rows, images and what to do when rows fail quality checks.

01

Download the template for the right vertical

In Seller Hub, open the listings area and choose to add listings in bulk. Select the vertical (for example Clothing, then the specific article such as kurtas or jeans) and your brand, then download that category’s template. Each vertical has its own columns and allowed values, so a template downloaded for shirts cannot be reused for kurtas. Menu names in Seller Hub change from time to time; the order of decisions does not.

  • Pick the most specific vertical that describes the product.
  • Use the brand exactly as it is approved on your seller account.
  • Download a fresh template when Flipkart updates a category rather than editing an old copy.
02

Fill one row per sellable size

Every size is its own row with its own seller SKU, price and stock. Rows that belong to one design share a style code, and colour variants of the same design are grouped with a common group ID so buyers see them together on one product page. Keep these identifiers stable: changing a style code after upload creates a new product instead of correcting the existing one.

03

Write the description and keywords for the field, not for padding

The product description should explain what the item is, what it is made of and how it fits. Search keywords are short: EcommerceListing trims them to three words and removes your brand name, because Flipkart does not allow the brand in that field. Structured attributes such as fabric, pattern, sleeve and fit power Flipkart’s search filters, so fill them individually instead of relying on the description to carry them.

04

Add MRP, selling price and country of origin

MRP and selling price are required on every row. Country of origin is a Legal Metrology requirement; if it is missing, EcommerceListing fills India and flags the row so an imported product can be corrected before upload. Check HSN and tax details against your own records, since a workbook cannot verify them.

05

Provide image URLs that match each row

Flipkart templates take images as links rather than attached files, with up to eight image columns per row. Each link must be publicly reachable and show the same product and colour as its row. EcommerceListing can include hosted image URLs in the Flipkart export; open a few of them before uploading to confirm they load.

06

Upload, then read the QC result

Upload the completed file from the bulk listing page and follow its progress in the upload history. Rows that fail quality checks come with an error file that names the field and reason. Correct those rows in the same workbook, keep the identifiers unchanged and upload again. Our listing errors guide covers the most common failure reasons.

Worked example · illustrative

One shirt design, three colours, four sizes

Illustrative catalog: a regular-fit cotton shirt in blue, white and olive, each in S, M, L and XL.

Rows in the template
12 rows: one per colour and size, each with its own seller SKU.
Grouping
One style code per colour; one group ID shared by all three colours.
Before upload
Confirm fabric composition, MRP per size and that each image URL shows the right colour.

Illustrative structure, not an approved Flipkart listing. Confirm current template rules in Seller Hub.

Common questions

How many products can one Flipkart bulk file hold?

Flipkart sets the per-file limits in Seller Hub, and they can change. Large catalogs are easier to correct when split into batches of similar products from the same vertical.

Why did my whole upload fail instead of a few rows?

A file-level failure usually means the template does not match the selected vertical, columns were renamed or removed, or the file was saved in a different format. Start again from a freshly downloaded template.

Does EcommerceListing upload to Flipkart for me?

No. It prepares and validates the workbook; you upload it through your own Seller Hub account, so your Flipkart credentials are never shared.
