Read the error file before editing anything
Every marketplace returns feedback after an upload. Flipkart lists QC failures in its upload history with a downloadable error file. Amazon produces a processing report with an error code per row. Myntra shows rejection reasons against each style in the Partner Portal. Note the row, field and reason, then correct the source data rather than patching only the exported cell.
Wrong template or modified columns
If an entire file fails, the template usually does not match the category, columns were renamed or deleted, or the file was re-saved in another format. Download a fresh template for the exact category and paste the data back in. EcommerceListing writes into the column layout of the template itself, which avoids this whole class of failure.
Values the category does not accept
Dropdown columns accept only the category’s own list. A colour, fabric or fit written in free text fails even if it is accurate. On Amazon an invalid dropdown value fails the whole row. On Myntra, GTIN is validated as a number, and a placeholder such as “NA” can fail the entire sheet. Choose values from the template’s list and leave optional identifiers blank when you do not have them.
- Match the spelling and capitalisation of allowed values exactly.
- Use the same colour vocabulary across sizes of one style.
- Leave GTIN blank rather than typing NA or 0.
Missing mandatory fields
Common gaps are MRP and selling price on Flipkart, target gender and country of origin on Amazon.in apparel, and manufacturer and packer name and address with pincode, HSN and prominent colour on Myntra. Legal Metrology details are product facts, so keep them in a reusable compliance profile instead of retyping them per row. EcommerceListing flags each missing mandatory field before export.
Images that fail the specification
Image rules differ sharply. Myntra apparel images must be JPEG, exactly 3:4, at least 1080×1440, between 500 KB and 1 MB, on a light-grey background — white is not accepted for apparel — and Myntra asks for five shots per style. Flipkart and Amazon take public image URLs, which fail if the link is private, expired or shows a different colour from the row.
Copy that breaks a content rule
Amazon may suppress titles that repeat a word more than twice or contain promotional phrases such as “best seller” or “free shipping”, and its backend search terms are capped at 250 bytes. Flipkart search keywords should not contain your brand name. Myntra rejects Vendor Article Numbers that contain *, %, # or &. Fix these in the source listing so the next export is clean.
